These are scary times. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you. I suppose, though, that every generation feels that there’s is just a little closer to doom than the last.
To King David, the scariest scene that he could imagine was likely an invading army led by chariots. Then as now, a nation must have adequate defenses to survive. King David’s united Israel was no different. The Bible doesn’t tell us how many chariots were counted in his army, but the Bible tells us in one spot that King Solomon possessed 1400 (1 Kings 10:26).
David knew that his strength was not in his armies. He knew the size of his enemies’ armies was of no matter. His strength lied in the Lord.
Fear not. Our God is mightier than any army.
