I met a businessman today who burned for Christ. I live in Branson, Missouri, so finding a businessman who claims to be Christian is as easy as finding dirt. Finding one with a passion for Christ is not so common.
His story is worth retelling. A few years ago he suffered a heart attack, a severe one. It was the kind that ultimately kills 95 percent of its victims. He went by helicopter to the hospital while technicians repeatedly shocked him with a defibrillator. He remembered much of it.
He said he was in and out of consciousnes. They zapped him. He prayed. He slipped away. They zapped him again. He prayed again. Again, he slipped away. They shocked him repeatedly for the duration of the flight.
What did he pray?
Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
Job 13:15 was his prayer as death knocked on his door.
This man no longer fears death. He no longer fears suffering. He has a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Fear Not for though He slay us, we can trust Him.
