Fear Not – 365 for You Shall Mount Up With Wings Like Eagles

May 11, 2017 by ChristianHolinessDaily Leave a Comment

Isaiah assures us that God never tires; He never grows weary. The young grow tired. Strong men collapse with exhaustion, but our God never wavers. He never faints. He never grows weary, declares the prophet Isaiah.

There is no one who can fully discern Him and His plans, no one who can understand His ways. His love for us, us who are His creation… His overwhelming care for us, His children… defies all logic. We are entirely unworthy of His love. Yet, He cares enough for us to have given His son to die in our place. He gave that which knows no sin to die for those who are sinners.

He strengthens those who diligently seek to serve Him. He gives power to the faint. He gives strength to those who have no might. They that wait upon the Lord shall mount up with wings of eagles.

Eagles are remarkable birds. Incredibly strong, an eagle which has an adult weight of 8-14 pounds can lift half again its body weight. Its mighty wings, with a span of up to eight feet, can lift its own weight and the weight of a good sized fish or rodent. When God says that those who wait upon Him shall mount up with wings as eagles, He is telling you that He will give you the strength to lift yourself from your present circumstances, and the strength to help others up, also.

The eagle’s wings take it to unprecedented heights, as well. Eagles have been documented to fly as high as 10-15,000 feet, and some speculate that they can fly up to 30,000 feet. They fly alone, leaving all other birds well below. Only the eagle can fly that high. The life of following Christ and continuous prayer will take the believer to unbelievable heights.

Fear Not, rather mount up with wings as an eagle.

Fear Not 365 – Just Wait Upon the Lord

Talk to me…

I bow before you in the morning.

At noon I praise your name.

Fall at your feet in the evening.

And, tomorrow I’ll do the same.

Just talk to me… Oh, to hear you breathe.

Let me see…

I’m searching for you in the morning.

At noon I seek your face.

Find your glory in the evening.

And, tomorrow grant me thy grace.

Just let me see… Lord, to only see.

Lord, I wait…

I am weary from so much running.

I feel like I could faint.

Please, let me rest in your presence.

Under your wings with no complaint.

Just let me wait…renew my strength.

-Talk to Me, S.J. Hager

Fear Not, Just Study

In my local church a couple of nights ago, the pastor gave a lesson on sharing your testimony. I was reminded that some folk are just not so willing to speak about Jesus as others. I know some extremely shy people, quiet as a church mouse. I know others who simply don’t want to be the subject of ridicule. I suppose that they are afraid that they will be seen as a “church lady,” a “Bible thumper,” or a “lunatic.” If that’s the case, then so be it. As for me, let folks think that I am a lunatic; I will not deny Jesus Christ, and I will not pass up an opportunity to share the Gospel with someone who needs to hear it.

I have heard all kinds of excuses for not sharing the Good News: “Well, I just didn’t feel led.” “There simply wasn’t time.” “They looked too busy.” “They seem like good people; they were probably already a Christian.”

It seems to me that Christians may not share the Good News of Jesus Christ because they have never been taught how, or because they don’t know how to intelligently speak of God’s Word.

Here’s the thing, many of the readers who contact me have called themselves Christians for most of their lives, but have never followed Jesus. If we want to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, we need to study God’s Word; we need to know it inside/out. We need to commit it to heart. If we “hide God’s Word in our hearts,” then we will be less likely to sin and more likely to share that Word when God steers someone to us.

Before we can share it, we must know it. The motto of the missionary Frank Laubach was “Each One Teach One.” That is a pretty good thing to put in practice. Are you afraid of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ?

Fear Not, Just Study.
