For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord
Come, All Who Are Thirsty.
To many in America, a drought is not a big deal. Rarely have we turned on a faucet and found it not working. I have, however, had some experience with a non-working well on our farm, and can tell you how hard it is to live a normal life when there is not a plentiful supply of fresh water.
Like most Christians, I have suffered spiritual droughts. The scary thing about a spiritual drought is that there is no forecasting them; one is often severely dehydrated before the drought is even declared.
Unlike a drought of rain, a spiritual drought can be prevented, for they are most always caused by unconfessed sin and an unrepentant heart.
Are you feeling spiritually dehydrated? Ask God to examine your heart, and see if you are hiding your sins. Jesus does not turn away anyone who comes to him with genuine sorrow for their sins. With open arms, he says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
